I’m fortunate that my dad loved all things techy when I was kid. He had an Atari, then a Commodore 64, then an Apple computer back when the things were so valuable the shopkeeper working on it literally ran off with it. So my dad got an IBM, we got a Nintendo, then a Sega….and on and on. We had giant satellite dishes outside of our very rural home and a descrambler that I primarily used to watch Fraggle Rock on HBO while my older brother dug into Cinemax when my parents weren’t home. I thank the Seven for my dad’s early love for gadgets and the impact in had on my discovery of nerd culture.
